Journey Jobs

Create-a-business

Finding a job is hard.

Journey Jobs is here to change that.

Finding a genuine job is difficult in the modern workforce. Employers and prospective employees both have a hard time connecting the right person, with the right position. That’s where our company comes into play.

In this competition, we developed a comprehensive business plan and presentation that covered the feasibility, value proposition, functionality, and scalability of the product.

Our group had major struggles with ideation, and this was an all-hands-on-deck effort to complete the project. Brainstorming resulted in many interesting ideas, but none of them had true value that would scale to a business capable of generating serious revenue.

Then, out of the blue, the concept of Journey Jobs came into the group’s collective conscience.

Two things mattered: The presentation, and the financials.

I can confidently say that this was a difficult project to finish. Because we had decided on our whole company so late in the competition, practically everything had to be written the night before — including the presentation, and all of the custom animations (as if that ever adds value…)

The presentation was 8 minutes, and in that 8 minutes we would present hours of analysis to the judges. I took all of the careful analysis, and distilled it down to the core details necessary to sell the idea.

We needed a business plan…

…I’ve never written a business plan.

The business plan had to be comprehensive, thorough, and also contain some degree of viability. I’ve never written a business plan, and neither did anyone else in my group. I took the lead to avoid complete chaos, and spent the wee hours of the morning analyzing how the business will work on paper.

Feedback on the plan was well-appreciated, and the plan has lots of holes. I expected this, and I wish I had done better. Time was my enemy in this project.
